Now, kids just meet online and feel that they are overly powerful since they never have to see your face when they insult you. you could still find friends to hang out with. All the kids > 8-10 years old, rarely have friends that they hang out with.especially kids that are not "normal".īack then, whether you were fat, a dwarf, had wierd birthmarks, etc. IMO, the only reason kids are like that today is because they have no support system of friends anymore. I'm the same here, I got abused as a child for being overweight and I put a stop to it.I went to an adult but either way I never/ever thought of suicide. Ive always had fun, and not fighting back, can sometimes mean the same as not worth your time or not acknowledgeing someone so worthless. dono what to tell you but 90's kids stuck with Diablo and left the A/S/L *** for your online chats Dunno what you think and your imput on the topic. I dunno, I know gaming has changed and now kids are grown up and on the internet but are they so characteristicly weaker then we the 80's kids? I mean when we got picked up, we stood up for ouselves and walked away. I remember the days when Ultima Online came out and Sh-t talk and Bullsh-t was every day thing and people calling eachothers name, insutls and even crude and over the top comments were made.īut what I don't remember is someone saying they are gonna kill themselves because they got picked on, or endless emo-kids whinning because they had no comebacks. I remember the chat rooms PICS and BOS and etc, where you attempted to make new friends and you found yourself countered with endless A/S/L statments. I have been on the internet since the golden era of dial up and aol was your only access to the world wide web. League of Legends, SC II are rampant with these kids. I know I haven't supported all my ideas but this is a wakfu forum and I'm just trying generate some discussion, so go easy!Įdit ** As far as petty *** talking goes there are still plenty of children that spam the most ignorant comments they can muster. Do you believe that youth that are subject to bullying choose to engage in the relationship, when in fact they just need to fight back or ignore? Not sure I quite understand this part of your post. I must also add that I find your solution of standing up for yourself or walking away, to the bullying concern interesting. I believe that the same problems existed in the 80s but were framed differently. After enough kids commit suicide however, it became apparent there was a problem with bullying. In the 80s if you were depressed or not functioning, there was little concern. Secondly, there is an increased awareness of depression and stress. I would argue that being unable to cope results in cries for attention or "help" though some seemingly strange behaviors (emo kids, etc.). Youth and adults alike are subject to increasing amounts of stress. although technology has added convenience to our lives I would also purpose that is has made life more complicated. Life is a bit different then it was in the 80s.
